“Everything looks so effortless!” says Gucci as she revisits a favorite photograph of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. The late American fashion icon’s life and style is causing a renewed fervor, courtesy of director Ryan Murphy’s fictionalized television series, Love Story: John F. Kennedy & Carolyn Bessette.
“She was so comfortable and confident in her own skin,” says Gucci, who finds forever inspiration in Bessette Kennedy’s radiant clean complexion and irreverent red lips.
Here, Gucci celebrates the enduring beauty look that’s timeless with a quick tutorial. “It’s super easy,” says Gucci as she enhances the complexion with translucent, luminous layers of Liquid Super Loaded in Peau de Pêche and Peau de Soleil for the right balance of believably sun-kissed color and gleam. “It always felt like there was nothing on her skin.”
To softly define the eyes without looking “makeup-y,” she traces on Eye Love You Pencil in Khôl Noir, then gently smudges away any hard lines. And for a lush red mouth that’s never overblown or overlined, Gucci paints on Lip Suede Lipstick in Les Rouges and cleans up edges with a bit of Vital Skin Foundation. (For a sheer alternative, Gucci suggests HydroBalm Tinted Lipstick in Pippi.)
The trick is to keep it simple with a minimalist mindset: “Super radiant skin, not much else,” says Gucci. “It’s all about the lip.”
